Woman dies after being hit, dragged 100 feet by car in UP’s Jhansi

A 54-year-old woman died after being hit and dragged 100 feet by a speeding car in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi on Friday evening. The accident took place when the woman and her husband were crossing the road to return home after visiting a relative in the hospital.
The victim was identified as Guddo, a resident of the Kotwali area. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead upon arrival. The body of the victim has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The incident was caught on CCTV, showing the intense impact that threw Guddo into the air before she landed on the car’s bonnet. Despite this, the driver continued driving, dragging her nearly 100 feet before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene.
Speaking with the media, police officer Ramveer Singh said that the car has been traced, and action will be taken once a formal complaint is filed.
“Around 9:15 pm in the Nawabad area, a Wagon R ran over a woman and fled. We have traced the car, and action will proceed once a formal complaint is filed. The CCTV footage helped us trace the car,” Singh said.
Raju Rayakwar, the victim’s husband, described the accident, saying, “We had gone to Max Care Hospital to visit our relative. After seeing them, we left around 9:15 pm. While crossing the road, a car came at speed and hit my wife. The driver dragged her for about 100 feet before she fell from the car, after which the driver fled.”
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
